Harvest cook off!

Our Year 4 children have harvested our marrows and cooked with them.
Spotting 2 large marrows growing in our allotment that had been missed in the final harvest of the year a group of our Year 4 children decided not to let them go to waste!
Supported by Mrs Garner the children picked the marrows and then devised a couple of recipes use them in - a marrow soup and a marrow cake! Mrs Garner helped the children to prepare the ingredients and then cook them according to the recipes. The food was then shared with the class.
"We had such a great time trying the marrow recipes, I didn't know you could make a marrow cake so I have learnt something myself!" said Mrs Garner.
"The children had a great time and the lesson really helped them to see first hand where their food comes from and how to use different ingredients. The helped to grow the marrows in our allotment and now they have picked and cooked them - perfect!" said Mrs Shaz.
