Requests for leave in term time
Since Christmas, we have received numerous requests from parents wanting to take their children out of school during term time. Children should be in school for the required 190 school days per academic year. If you take your child out of school during term time, we will contact the Educational Social Work Service, who will implement a fixed-term penalty. This could result in each parent being fined £80 per child. In some cases, the fine could be £2,500 per child per parent and the parents could also receive a criminal record.
Reading
Parents often ask for advice on how best to support their child, and we continue to say that the best way for a parent to help their child is to encourage them to read. This can mean reading to them, listening to them read, reading together or asking them to tell you about the book that they are reading. In school, our highest achievers are almost always enthusiastic readers.
Labelling Uniform
We have had a number of children who have lost items of uniform, coats etc. but do not have their names in the items. It is extremely difficult for staff to find lost items if it is not labelled with your child’s name. Please ensure all items are labelled.
Adverse Weather Conditions
The school will endeavour to remain open in adverse weather conditions. However, if we need to close the school, you will be notified via the Bradford Schools Online website, the school’s website and by email. Please make sure to check your emails regularly during adverse weather conditions. Additionally, if you receive an email regarding the school closing early, opening late, or not opening at all, could you share this information with other families you may know, to help keep everyone informed.

Valuable Items
If your child brings their phone, house keys, bus pass, and wears a smart watch, they need to hand them into the office where the items will be locked away.
Your child will then need to collect them at the end of the day.
Reporting your child absent
This year we will once again be having a big push on attendance and punctuality. The children are expected in school every day. Children are not allowed to take leave from school. If you do take your child out of school, then you may be prosecuted and fined £80 per child per parent. In some cases, you could be fined £2,500 per child per parent and receive a criminal record.
Mrs. Spafford and Mrs. Khambhaita will be monitoring all children and if they have any concerns regarding a child’s attendance or punctuality, the parents will be invited to a meeting.
If your child is going to be absent from school, please do not ring the school number but ring or send a text to 07938742883.
If we have not received a reason for your child’s absence, we will be contacting you from this number. If we do not receive any reason, then a home visit will be made.
